Dushan jade is one of the four famous jades in China,which has a great value of collection and appreciation because of its unique characteristics and advantages.The book called An Introduction to Dushan Jade Culture takes the introduction of jade culture in China as a leading-in,presenting a whole picture of Dushan jade to the readers and realizing the profound culture contained in Dushan jade.The content includes the origin,history,collection and appreciation of Dushan jade,etc.Translating this text into English fluently and beautifully can make the foreigners know about Dushan jade and bring more effective promotion and dissemination of Chinese jade culture.It is of great significance to promote the soft power of Chinese culture and boost the local economy.At the same time,based on the Skopos Theory,the author tries to explore the appropriate translation methods and techniques for the texts of jade culture,hoping to provide a new perspective to the translation study of the related texts.In the process of translation,the author mainly takes Skopos Theory as the basis,and applies four methods for translation: transliteration,transliteration plus annotation,free translation,amplification and omission,so as to express the original text faithfully and smoothly and to make foreign readers understand the characteristics of Dushan jade culture more accurately.The author analyses some words as well as sentences in the original text with examples and elaborates the application of various translation methods.After that,this report will summarize the author's viewpoints and experience to finish this translation practice report.This practice report is divided into five parts: the first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background of the translation text,the significance of translation and the overall framework of the report.The second part describes the translation process.The third part is the theoretical overview of translation practice.It includes an overview of the selected theory and its guidance as well as inspiration to the translation practice.The fourth part is concerned with the key and difficult points in translation practice.And in this part,the author elaborates the application of the four translation methods in the process of translation practice.The fifth part is the summary and experience of the translation practice,including the translation and review of the first draft,the gain,discovery and reflection in the translation process.The last part is an appendix with theoriginal text and translated text.The author has a lot of harvest and discovery in the process of translation practice.In author's opinion,translators should give full play to their role,taking the cultural environment of the readers into consideration including their receptivity.And on that basis,translators intelligently choose the appropriate translation methods and techniques,not restricted by the form of the original content and function,according to the purpose of translation behavior and intention.
