Among all kinds of English subordinate clauses, attributive clause is one of the most complex and the most difficult to translate. In Chinese, there is no post-attributive,so the translator needs to employ translation strategies flexibly when translating attributive clause to ensure the quality of the translation version.Compared to the simultaneous interpreter, the written translator has the advantage of having more time for preparing, translating and information-searching.They,thus,can use more flexible translation strategies to deal with the attributive clauseThis thesis aims to provide some advice to improve the quality of simultaneous interpretation of attributive clauses by comparing the translation strategies of the attributive clause in written translation and simultaneous interpretation, calculating the proportion of each translation method and analyzing the rule of using them.By studying the simultaneous interpretation and written translation versions of six speeches of some foreign leaders and political members in recent years, this thesis finds that the written translators mainly adopt preposition, postposition, adverbial transformation and blending methods to translate attributive clauses, while the simultaneous interpreters mainly employ the strategies of splitting, repetition and omission.Based on these findings, the author puts forward two suggestions to improve the simultaneous interpretation of attributive clauses.
