In recent decades, the study of Chekhov's drama has developed rapidly.People are more aware of the unique artistic value and advanced aesthetic vision in Chekhov's drama.Domestic research on Chekhov's drama has covered many aspects, but there has been no specific study on its acceptance. However, the acceptance of Chekhov's plays can not be neglected, especially his acceptance of Shakespeare on the basis of inheriting the Russian realist creation tradition, from which we can see the origin of his unique idea of drama creation. At the same time, the genre of Chekhov's plays has always been the focus of researchers' attention, and in the process of contrasting with Shakespeare's plays,we can gain a new perspective to understand the "comedy" in Chekhov's plays. This paper consists of introduction, three chapters and conclusion.——The introduction part firstly sorts out the existing research results of Chekhov drama at home and abroad, focusing on the development of Chekhov drama research in China, which shows that the lack of systematic research on the acceptance of Chekhov drama in the past.Secondly,it is the research ideas and methods of this topic, mainly using the influence research and parallel research in comparative literature. The first chapter of the main text discusses the context that Chekhov accepted for Shakespeare. The first is the historical premise of acceptance: Chekhov's realist writer identity and the realist tradition of Russian national drama inherited by his dramatic creation;Second is the objective condition of acceptance: the extent of Shakespeare's spread throughout Russia in the 19 th century, aimed at illustrating the social and environmental factors that Chekhov was influenced by Shakespeare's plays. The second chapter of the text, using comparative literature to influence research methods, analyzes Shakespeare's influence in Chekhov's plays from three parts: one is the direct reference of the original text in his plays;the other is the inheritance and rewriting of the character "Hamlet";the third is the group of "Ivanov-style" characters created by Chekhov after inheriting "Hamlet",and the development of these characters in all his multi-act plays. The third chapter of the text is the dialogue between Chekhov's drama and Shakespeare. It draws on the parallel research method of comparative literature and compares Chekhov's drama with Shakespeare's drama from two aspects: First, the comparison of comedy space-the "Green World" in Shakespeare's comedy and the closed "Country Manor" in Chekhov's drama;the second is to compare the combination of tragic factors and comedy factors in their dramas. The conclusion summarizes the connection between Chekhov's dramas and Shakespeare's dramas, further explain the significance of their communication across time and space, and the important role of Chekhov plays in communicating realist drama with modern drama.
