“Teacher-led,student-centered” is a major principle in Chinese teaching.This principle emphasizes the important position of students in Chinese teaching.Students in different countries and regions have different needs for Chinese teaching.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the needs of students,which will play a vital role in outline design,textbook writing,and teaching strategies.Based on the above situation and the theory of demand analysis of Hutchinson & Waters,combined with the literature method,questionnaire survey,classroom observation method and interview method,the writer analyzes the needs of Chinese learners at the Confucius Institute at the Catholic University of Peru,aiming at clarifying the needs of Confucius Institute students for Chinese teaching and improving the quality of Chinese teaching in the Confucius Institute at the Catholic University of Peru.This paper consists of three chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which briefly describes the reasons for selecting the topic and clarifies the value and significance of this investigation.And then the writer elaborates the theory of demand analysis and review the research of related issues by scholars at home and abroad.The second chapter is the investigation and analysis of the classroom teaching needs of the Chinese learners in the basic class.Firstly,the research schemes of this paper are introduced from four aspects: research questions,research methods,research objects and survey tools.Then,according to the survey of the basic information,teaching environment,teachers,teaching content and teaching methods of the basic class learners,the writer conducts statistics and analysis on the survey data.The third chapter is the Chinese teaching suggestions.According to the results of the investigation and analysis in Chapter 2,with the writer's teaching experience and reflection,the writer puts forward some suggestions to the Confucius Institute and the teachers,so that the Confucius Institute at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru can achieve sound operation and let Chinese spread and accept more in Peru.
