This paper is a translation report on the book Translation in Practice,it was written by Gill Paul,a British novelist.The book which was published by the Dalkey Archive Press,aims to provide readers with some guidance on translation practices.Dalkey publishing is the largest translation company of foreign literature,and it?s a non-profit literary publishing house affiliated with the University of Illinois.Translation in Practice involves a lot of translation skills and corresponding translation terms.The language of this book is concise and accurate,which with strong practicability.Chapter one to three of this book was chosen by the author of the report to translate and analyze.This book has no Chinese version yet.Coherence Rule,Skopos Rule and Fidelity Rule of Skopos Theory are adopted here as guidelines for this translation practice.Therefore,the author adopts relevant translation methods to translate the original text and analyzes the examples in the translation.This report is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the report of Translation in Practice,including its background,significance and structure.The second part is the introduction of translation project,including the introduction of Translation in Practice and the translation process.Part three is an introduction to the theoretical framework,including the introduction of the three rules of Skopos Theory,text content,and analysis of text characteristics and the guiding significance of Skopos Theory in translation practice.The last part is a systematic summary of the whole report,which summarizes the harvest and experience in the translation process,and provides experience and reference for the future translation of such texts.The fourth part is the main part of the whole translation report,which combines the Skopos Theory with cases,and analyzes the specific difficulties in the translation process and explains the strategies and methods to overcome these difficulties,so as to provide references for the translation of practical manuals in the future.
