Based on the Variation Theory, this practice report is based on the author's site interpretation of the speech'"Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder".It aims to study the feasibility and necessity of applying Variation Theory to consecutive interpreting, analyze some typical examples, and offer some revised, and hopefully improved versions of the translated examples with the application of addition, deletion, condensation, editing, narration strategies.Studies have shown that the theory is both feasible and applicable, and with the help of the theory, interpreters can overcome the language obstacles and avoid unnecessary embarrassment. The use of addition, deletion, condensation, editing, narration strategies can help interpreters to be more flexible and convey the key message to the audience and better cater for the needs of the audience. As for the interpreters, the theory enables the interpreters to take the initiative in the interpretation performance so as to improve its quality. This report looks at the merits and demerits of the site interpretation and concludes that the Variation Theory is of great implications for interpretation trainees and practicing interpreters and could help them perform their duties better. It is the hope of the author that the report can benefit the learners in the field of consecutive interpreting.
