A Report On The E-C Translation Of A Crooked Line(chapter Four)

This translation report is based on the A Crooked Line,a historical academic book,which is commissioned by a university teacher.This task began in March,2017.The task is required to be completed in three months.There were nine people involved in this task.Each person is responsible for part of the translation tasks and mutual proofreading.The client requires the translator to translate the source text correctly without neglecting important contents or misrepresenting the source text.The client also requires the translator to accurately understand the expressions of the source text and use the appropriate translation strategies to deal with the problems encountered during the translation process.This report is a report based on the historical academic book.It falls into five chapters: The first chapter is a introduction of the task.The second chapter is the text analysis,including characteristics of words and characteristics of sentences in the source text.The third chapter,which includes pre-translation preparations,translation process and post-translation,discusses preparations before the translation,introduction of parallel texts,use of translation tools,strategies to deal with the problems and some feedback.The fourth chapter is case study,including two levels:lexical level and sentence level,the first of which includes annotation for words relevant to historical terms,shifts of classes,and Repetition of words.Sentence level includes translations of long sentences and passive sentences.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,making a summary of the problems encountered by the translator during the translation process and the translation strategies adopted by the translator to deal with these problems.
