In the system of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,newspaper reading course is an indispensable part.Through reading newspaper articles,the learners can not only understand the national conditions of contemporary China,but also improve the level of Chinese reading.However,due to the late start of newspaper reading course in China,the research on it is slightly weaker than other main disciplines.In the teaching practice of advanced Chinese newspaper reading course,the author finds that although foreign students have a certain level of Chinese at the advanced stage,there are still misunderstandings of newspaper reading due to the lack of Chinese schema knowledge,which makes it difficult for learners to further improve their Chinese level.Therefore,we try to use schema theory to find appropriate solutions to improve teaching.The instructional design described in this paper is based on the teaching practice of advanced Chinese newspaper reading course and schema theory.Its purpose is to improve the teaching of advanced Chinese newspaper reading with schema theory.The text consists of three parts.The first part starts with the analysis of the current situation of advanced newspaper reading course in TCFL,elaborates the purpose of this study with schema theory,and determines the research ideas and methods.The second part combines the investigation of schema in the textbook to analyse and elaborate the ideas of teaching design from the perspective of teaching principles,teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching needs and learners.The third part provides detailed instructional design based on the analysis of teachingobjects,objectives,difficulties and other background information.Then,through classroom observation and feedback after class,we reflect on and evaluate the teaching design plan,and propose appropriate solutions.The conclusion in this paper is that,for the advanced Chinese newspaper reading class,the validity of the schema depends on the stimulated schema content which should be associated with the social and cultural background knowledge in the text rather than blindly introducing the newspaper words,genres and long-term difficult sentence.And the conditions of successful combination of schema theory and advanced Chinese newspaper reading class teaching are mainly about considering the learning needs of foreign students and the environmental conditions.The innovation of this paper lies in the use of schema theory to explore the reading courses of advanced Chinese newspapers.At present,there is still a big gap left in the analysis,and then the analysis of the textbooks of the mainstream newspapers and periodicals Time-Advanced Chinese Newspaper Reading Course.It will be helpful to improve the teaching of the advanced Chinese newspaper reading class using the textbook.However,there are still deficiencies,such as the lack of comprehensive and accurate analysis of learners and the inadequacy of theoretical research.
