As economic globalization develops,the exchanges between China and ASEAN countries are also increasing,bringing about the growing demand for interpreters.In the middle of exchanging,simultaneous interpreting is regarded as a highly efficient way,as speakers can make a continuous speech without being affected or interrupted,thus conveying more comprehensive information to the audience.Considering this fact,simultaneous interpreting is becoming increasingly popular around the world nowadays.This report is based upon the author's practice in the China-ASEAN Vocational Education and Teacher Development Academic Forum 2018 which attracts a great number of well-known experts,scholars,teachers,and doctoral students from countries like China,Brunei,Thailand,and Indonesia,Singapore and so on.During the forum,the author and other two interpreters completed the task together.This report only focuses on the author's interpreting for Professor Li Mengqing,Dean of the School of Education of Hubei University.In this report,through a detailed analysis and review,the author concentrates on the difficulties including information overload,the fast presentation rate and the written source language,which caused problems like information loss and redundancy.Therefore,to address these problems and challenges,the author proposes coping strategies for the main problems in practice,composing of anticipation,reorganization,and simplification of information,etc.The skillful application of these strategies will enable interpreters to keep confident and calm in their interpreting practices.Eventually,the author puts forward approaches for interpreters to improve the performance quality in the future.
