This is a report based on the consecutive interpreting practice on “China-US Basic Education Principal Forum” organized by Hebei Education Department in March 2015. The forum participants include Arizona education delegation, Deputy Director-General of Hebei Education Department in charge of basic education, several governmental officials and four Chinese school principals. The author’s interpreting practice centered on two parts: consecutive interpreting for the speech and the discussion session. Specific analysis and summarization of the interpreting practice are given in this report. The author not only discusses the problems, but also offers some solutions. In the end, the author summarizes the whole interpreting practice.This report includes four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction of the interpretation task, in which the author describes the forum’s background, client and their request. The second chapter is the implementation of the interpreting task including the preparatory stage, interpreting process, implementation of the plan as well as the handling of emergencies. In the third chapter, some specific cases are analyzed with translation strategies and Reader’s Response Theory. The fourth chapter gives a summary of the interpreting practice, in which the author puts forward some unsolved issues and considerations, and also proposes the future prospect.Through the interpreting practice, the author realizes that practice makes perfect and practice is an important part for interpreting study. Problems can only be found and solved accordingly through practice. Interpreters should improve their comprehensive quality including professional quality, psychological quality and emergency handling ability to become the qualified ones.
