Interpretive Theory-Based Strategies For Government Press Conference

With the rapid growth of China's international exchange,Chinese governments and institutions hold more and more press conferences to convey information concerning current issues,policies and regulations and development tendency to the outside world.Many of these press conferences provide on-spot consecutive interpretation or simultaneous interpretation.The interpreting quality of government press conference will directly influence both the effect of the press conference and China's foreign publicity.Therefore,to explore the interpreting strategies owns very important theoretical and practical significance.This report is a simulated practice report.By analyzing the transferred text material of the simulated consecutive interpretation of the Press Conference of the Information Office of the State Council(SCIO)on the Work of Migrant Workers in 2015,the report summarizes the corresponding interpretation strategies from typical cases under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.The interpretation strategies include information addition,information omission,sentence patterns and part of speech conversion and explanatory interpretation.At last,the author sums up experiences and limitations from simulated interpretation.
