The Authentication Study Of Kangxi Folk Kiln Blue And White Porcelain Based On Raw Materials,Technology And Social Background

Kangxi period is the last flourishing of feudal society in China,the beginning of Kang-Qian's flourishing age.During the Kangxi period,the country achieved unity,political ecology,frequent exchanges of foreign culture and trade and developed social economy.It laid the foundation for the progress and development of China's porcelain production and reached the peak of China's ancient porcelain production,especially the blue and white porcelain of Kangxi period.Blue and white porcelain produced in Kangxi period possesses the following distinguishing features,huge amount of production,excellent raw materials,advanced manufacture technology,superb painting techniques,rich decorative patterns.With the dual advantages of the arts and technology,at that time,it was highly sought after by both domestic and foreign consumers and collectors.Today,both the domestic and foreign collecters and collection market have a large amount of ownership,and this has also put forward a topic for us,that is,how to accurately authenticate these porcelains which from the museum collection and antique trade market.At the same time,duiring the total 61 years of Kangxi period,blue and whit porcelain made in the early,middle and late stage are with various characteristics.Besides,it's not only hard to discriminate between blue and white porcelain of Ming dynasty from their replica of Kangxi period,but also hard to discriminate between blue and white porcelain of Kangxi period and the well know replica of them produced in Guangxu period.Therefore,the authentication of blue and white porcelain produced by folk kiln of Kangxi period has always been a difficult problem for researchers and collectors.This paper focuses on the scientific authentication of blue and white porcelain made by Kangxi folk kiln,and further discusses its corresponding authentication characteristics through the study of the raw materials,technology and social background at that time.According to the development of the blue and white porcelain in kangxi folk kiln,this paper classifies the blue and white porcelain made by Kangxi folk kiln in the early,middle and late stages.Based on the collected documents and the collection of chronology objects,the raw materials,technology and social background of the blue and white porcelain made by Kangxi folk kiln were studied in detail in combination with the modern scientific and technological measurement.Study of raw materials were subdivided into clay ingredients,glaze ingredients and blue ingredients by three points,study of technology is subdivided into shaping process,painting process,kiln technology by three points,the study of social background is subdivided into political background,economic background and cultural background by three points;At the same time,combining with authentication difficulties of discriminating between blue and white porcelain of Ming dynasty from their replica of Kangxi period,and discriminating between blue and white porcelain of Kangxi period and the well know replica of them produced in Guangxu period..Based the perspective of the above three aspects and nine detailed points in-depth study,this paper summarized the special shape,clay,glaze,color,enamel and decoration/inscription in the authentication of Jingdezhen Kangxi folk kiln.The key points of authentication in blue and white porcelain made by Jingdezhen Kangxi folk kiln are " Not only know the truth,but also know why it is so".
