A Practice Report On The Translation Of A Feast Of The Sharing Economy-Taking Bike-sharing As An Example

As the product of “Internet +”,bike-sharing has developed rapidly since its emergence.It not only attracted the attention of the media and the public,but also aroused the emulation of many enterprises.However,it not only brings great convenience to people's daily travel,but also causes troubles to the government and the social masses for such problems as excessive launch and random parking,which triggers widespread concern and thinking of the society.The translation practice comes from the book “A Feast of the Sharing Economy ——Taking Bike-sharing as an Example”,which was co-authored by four researchers and published by People Daily Press in 2017.It covers 180,000 Chinese words and involves the origin and development of bike-sharing and its market competition,profit mode,advantages and disadvantages,government and market regulation,etc.It is rich in content and pictures and plays an important role in the research of bike-sharing.The translation report is composed of four chapters.The practice and the source text are introduced in the first chapter,which introduced the background,objectives and significance of the practice,and analyzed the features of the source text from the lexical aspect,the syntactic aspect and the modes of expression.What is more,the translation difficulties and required translation competences of the source text are analyzed according to its features.The second chapter introduced the translation process from three steps,including the preparations before translation,and the work during and after the translation.The content of these steps covers the practical and theoretical preparation,the choice of translation tools and the reference of some authoritative expressions,as well as the revision after translation and self-assessment.The third chapter is the case analysis.In this part,the difficulties in translation and the strategies to solve them will be pointed out from the lexical and syntactic levels.The fourth chapter will make a conclusion about the whole report.The problems yet to be solved,the reflection on the practice will also be pointed out in this chapter.To solve the difficulties in translation and improve the translation quality,the author analyzed the source text under the guidance of the text typology,and combined the skopos theory with the practice.This report holds that the text type and translation principles are of great importance to translation practice.In other words,the translation should conform to the text type of the source text and the expectedfunctions or translation purpose of the translator.The author hopes that this report can facilitate translators' understanding on translation practice and provide references for further translation of the same or similar texts.
