The spread of popular science knowledge plays an important role in social development,and global climate change and food security are important components of popular science knowledge.With the improvement of peopled scientific awareness,the translation of excellent science texts in various countries is becoming more and more important.This article excerpts the book Climate Change and Global Food Security as a source of translation practice aimed at drawing attention to the relationship between food security and climate change.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which briefly explains the meaning and significance of the selected topics,as well as the research status at home and abroad.The second part is the task description and the stylistic features of the original text,briefly pointing out the selected content and stylistic features.The third part is the pre-translation preparation and translation theory.It mainly introduces a series of means and methods used by translators,as well as the theoretical thinking of translation,emphasizing the application principle of Skopostheorie.The fourth part is the focus of the thesis.First,the translation of vocabulary is introduced.It mainly explains the conversion of word class,addition and omission of words.Then it analyzes the sentence translation features of popular science articles through specific examples from the aspects of long sentence translation and passive sentence translation,aiming to find a suitable translation strategy.The translation practice of popular science articles provides positive reference and guiding significance;The fifth part is the conclusion.It summarizes the experience of this translation practice and points out some deficiencies in order to provide new perspectives and research directions for the latecomers.
