Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of Evaluation Of Certain Veterinary Drug Residues In Food(Excerpt)

The report Evaluation of Certain Veterinary Drug Residues in Foods was published by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives of World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2018,the main content of which is the long-term dietary exposure assessment,bioavailability and/or pharmacological activity,acute reference dose and comments on veterinary drug residues in foods.This translation practice report selects sections of the report as the original text for translation and related analysis,and aims at improving food safety and providing guidance to all WHO Member States on methods and criteria for assessing veterinary drug residues in food.Hopefully,this translation will enable internationally advanced research on veterinary drug residues to be familiar to Chinese native speakers,and provide some reference for the translation of veterinary drug residues in food.The translation practice report consists of five parts.The first part briefly introduces the background and significance of this translation practice report;the second part carries out the task description,including the main content of the original text,writing characteristics,and target readers of the translation;the third part describes the process,including the preparation before translation,the theory followed in the translation process,the translation process,and the control of the quality of the translation;the fourth part mainly analyzes the typical case,some typical cases are analyzed under the guidance of text theory,focusing on the lexical,syntactic and discourse style;and the fifth part summarizes the experiences and lessons accumulated during the translation process,the problems encountered in the translation process and the solutions.According to the text type theory,the original text belongs to the special report class in the information type text,of which the chart is rich,the format is standardized and the language is rigorous.This translation report uses the text type theory as the main guiding theory,analyzes the specific problems encountered in the translation process,and translates under the guidance of theory.By translating the report and writing this translation practice report,the author has further mastered relevant translation theories,and meanwhile,her translation ability has been improved.In addition,through the translation of the text in the special report category,the author has accumulated similar text translation experience.The unresolved problems encountered in the translation process will also urge the author to continue to strengthen the study of professional knowledge and translation theory.
