The source text for this translation project report is chosen from Chapter Two of Environment Attitudes Through Time, which was written by Robert James Berry.Chapter Two has mainly described the history of human development, which contains a lot of professional knowledge related to biology and sociology. It also has explained how humans in ancient times lived and multiplied and how they dealt with natural disasters, representing the appearance of the primitive society.By reading this article, readers can enhance their understanding of the environmental history, nature and human beings, improve their cognitive level and arouse a strong sense of environmental protection and thinking about the future development of the earth.According to Peter Newmark's text typology, the source text is an informative text.In the process of translation, the translator has mainly taken Nida's functional equivalence theory as the guidance, and adopted the translation methods of conversion and inversion to solve the translation difficulties. It is hoped that this translation practice will help people deepen their understanding of the environmental problems and provide some reference value for future translation studies of such informative texts.
