This is a translation report based on a translation project of Environmental Attitudes through Time(Chapter 9).Environmental protection has always been a heatedly-discussedtopic.With the rapid development of the economy,mankind has made tremendous achievements in different aspects,but the problems have been gradually emerged—the natural environment on which human beings depend for survival is suffering irreversible damage.Under such a tremendous pressure,human have to re-examine the relationship between humans and nature.This report provides some reference and inspiration for policy makers and readers by analyzing the events,causes and policies that have historically influenced the attitudes of the human environment.On the basis of a brief introduction of the translation project and the background of the original text,the translator makes a careful analysis of the original text and,through translation practice and summary,concludes that this chapter is characterized by its concise language,its more typical features,the use of long difficult sentences and some specialized vocabulary.It is suitable to make a comparative analysis between Chinese and English.In order to make the translation more readable and to make the Chinese readers feel the same as the original readers,the translator alternately uses the translation norms in pictures and Nida undefined functional equivalence theory in the process of English-Chinese translation.In order to solve the problems in translation,the translation report is divided into four parts:the first part is a brief introduction of the translation project,including its relevant background,project significance and project structure;the second part introduces the basic information of the original text and pre-translation preparation;the third partintroduces the difficulties of translation in this chapter and the main guiding theory of translation.The fourth part introduces the translation methods and strategies to solve the important and difficult points,and finally points out what have been learned and the direction of effort.
