Over the past four decades,China has been experiencing an economic boom and remarkable progress thanks to the reform and opening-up policy. However, environmental protection has been increasingly serious with causing great considerations from different fields.Chinese government has been attaching great importance to environmental protection by conducting international exchange and cooperation to pursue green,low-carbon and sustainable development.Accordingly, numerous academic achievements have been emerging in the circle of environmental science and technology and have been drawing great attention from the international environmental academic community. Therefore,it is of great significance to translate these scientific texts which represent the latest achievements in this field. For this reason, the translator excerpts from the latest published(January,2018)influential research work,Green Nature and Carbon Sinks Eco-phytotechnology – the State-of-Art,for translation practice. Then the translator writes the translation report guided by the Functional Equivalence Theory. The scientific text is characterized by strong specialty, rigorous logical structures and complex syntactic structures. Therefore, the translator needs to systematically grasp the typical features,as well as master the professional knowledge in this field and be proficient in the application of translation theories and methods for the guidance. In this report, the translator discusses the problems encountered in the process of translation at the lexical, syntactic and textual levels under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory. And she makes analysis on the translation methods such as literal translation, free translation, conversion, splitting and restructuring which are used during the translation. This report covers five parts: background and significance, task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion. The report is an exploratory translation practice of a scientific text in the field of environmental protection for sharing the following practical experience and suggestions for future practice.Firstly, accurate translation of key terms ensures the precise delivery of important information;secondly, the flexible restructuring of complex sentences helps to appropriately convey text messages;thirdly, the emphasis on contextual logic guarantees the fluency of the translated text.Undoubtedly, there are some limitations in this translation practice and report, such as uncertainty of the meaning of some terms, which requires the translator's attention and great efforts for future translation practice.
