With the increasing trend of globalization, the translation of Chinese news to English on Chinese universities websites has played a significant role in promoting international exchanges and cooperation. The thesis takes the Chinese-English translation project from the official website of the Southwest University of Science and Technology(SWUST)as the research object. The translation practice aims to promote the external publicity of SWUST and provide suitable news texts for English target readers. The ultimate purpose of this translation is to make both target text readers and source text readers acquire the same reading experience.Through the analysis of news text, the translator summarizes its language features and difficulties. Then based on the theory of functional equivalence of Eugene Nida, combined with specific cases in the translation project, the translator, analyzes the source text in detail.Besides, the translator cites typical cases from the source text to make analysis in terms of lexis, syntax and discourse. The translator adopts amplification and omission to achieve the equivalence in meaning between Chinese and English. The translator also employs division, integration and explanatory translation to realize the equivalence in meaning and form.By adopting syntactic linearity, syntactic reverse and adaptation, the translator satisfies the equivalence in meaning and style.By analyzing the translation methods above, the translator can effectively solve the problems in translation, which improves the accuracy and readability of Chinese-English translation linguistically and theoretically.Besides, the translator also expects the thesis will be the reference for those who attempt to devote to Chinese-English translation of campus web page news.
