A Report On The Translation Of If You're In A Dogfight,Become A Cat:Strategies For Long-Term Growth(Chapter Five,Six And Seven)

With the rapid development of society and the deepening of internationalization,business competition nowadays is becoming increasingly fierce,and corporate development strategies are becoming more and more important in such fierce competition.This report is based on a project of an English to Chinese translation practice of If You 're in a Dogfight,Become a Cat:Strategies for Long-Term Growth,published by the Columbia Business School.It contains about 100,000 words and the translation is about 170,000 words.The author is responsible for the translation of Chapter 5,6,and 7.The three chapters have about 17,000 words and the translation version is about 30,000 words.The book was translated and officially published under the guidance of my supervisor.The translation was strictly proofread and revised by the author,the project partners and the editors.The quality of the translation gradually reached the publishing requirements after many revisions.The process of this report can be divided into three parts:pre-translation,case analysis and post translation revision.In order to make a good preparation,in the pre-translation part,an overall understanding of the original context is reached,and terminology is settled.In the second part,analysis is carried out from word translation and sentence translation.Word translation includes proper nouns,word conversion,word with uncommon meaning and four Chinese-character structure.Sentence translation includes amplification,division,inversion and long and difficult sentences.In the last part,with the help of peer reviewers,teachers,and experts,the translator reviews and checks the whole report carefully.At last,the translator summarizes the experience and weak points of the project.
