A Report On The Translation Of 3DEXPERIENCE Compass

This paper is a report of the English-Chinese translation practice based on the translation of the 10th issue of 3DEXPERIENCE Compass magazine,an informative English source text.There are over 12 thousand Chinese characters in this translation with no other Chinese version of this project before the author accomplished it.In that case,this translation project is eligible for the translation report.Taking the translation of the“industry”column as the object of research,which involves how enterprises in industries such as aerospace,architecture and defense handle the challenge with solutions provided by Dassault Systemes,the report conducts a thorough analysis of specific cases of translation and summarizes the solutions to the problems and difficulties encountered in the process of translation,such as how to translate words according to contexts,how to translate subordinate clauses,Passive sentences and long sentences to achieve faithfulness and smoothness.In order to achieve these objectives,the author pays great attention to the detection and specification of the word,and adopts methods like division,shift,addition and adjustment of sentence order in the source text.As the report reveals,a translator should have a comprehensive understanding of translation,pay great attention to the pre-translational analysis,the client interests and the satisfaction of readers'expectations.It is hoped that this report can provide some referential value for both the author of the report to engage herself in future translation work and other translators to deal with such texts.
