Translation Practice Report On Patent Technology Texts From The Perspective Of Reiss' Text Typology Theory

In the context of globalization,international communication becomes increasingly frequent,and technical knowledge sharing also gains popularity worldwide.Recently,our country also pays more attention to the global vision,and actively introduces foreign advanced technology to promote the development of our relevant industries,thus contributing to the progress of mankind.Thus,the translation of such foreign materials as the science and technology literature,patent specifications comes to show its important role.However,for highly professional technology field,there are still many problems emerged,such as various terminology,acronyms,unique way of writing,etc,which are not favorable for people to understand and capitalize relevant technologies.Therefore,translation of these foreign materials functions a lot,having a direct bearing on technical application and popularization.Based on Reiss' s Text Typology Theory,the author analyzed the patent technology texts in performing the translation project of Akmid.First of all,the text type of the source text was classified in accordance with the theory,that is,the imformative text.Thus,in the process of translation,the term and sentence structure should be precise and the paragraph should be logical,conveying more accurate and efficient original information to the readers and technical personnel.In addition,relevant translation principles and methods were also explained,reflecting the guiding significance of the theory and a better combination of theory and practice.This translation practice report consists of four parts: the first part mainly introduces the translation project and the characteristics of the text.The second part outlines the translation preparation,translation process and revision.The third part analyzes the translation cases,explaining the guidance of the theory which includes relevant translation principles,the translation method as well as some translation skills.The fourth part makes a summary for the translation practice,covering its practical significance and the author's thinking on it.Meanwhile,the author hopes that the report can provide reference for professional and technical personnel.
