A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting Of The Chinese Documentary I Dedicate My Youth To You:from The Perspective Of The Interpretive Theory

In 2017,the film Youth directed by Feng Xiaogang brought about a heated discussion once it was released.The release of the film documentary Youth Behind the Scenes:I Dedicate My youth to You interpreted the understanding of the characters and the film from the perspective of the director and the actors.This paper aims at analyzing the difficulties and solutions in the consecutive interpreting of the film documentary from the perspective of the interpretive theory.This report mainly consists of interviews and dialogues at the field scenes with colloquial expressions used from time to time.As a result,such inevitable problems as repetition and redundancy,omission,pronoun confusion and conjunction confusion often occur,posing a challenge to the interpreter.In addition,due to the differences of cultural background and communicative modes,the interpreter also needs to pay special attention to culture-loaded expressions,rhetoric devices,polysemy and semantic transformation during interpreting so as to make the target receivers understand the sense of ST.To combat the above mentioned challenges,this report tries to combine the Triangle Model of the interpretive theory with practical translation methods such as free translation,conversion,amplification,omission and integrated translation.Systematic case analysis is conducted to supplement each of the methods as well.The report believes that sense plays a vital role in the interpreting process for it's the key of understanding and expression.Meanwhile,it's also important to develop multi-task ability so as to improve the efficiency guided by the interpretive theory.In addition,as the interpreter is allowed to make quick reactions in real time,it's of equal importance to keep a good balance between the interpreting process and the interpreting theory.This report hopes to share opinions of the interpreting practice guided by the interpretive theory.Any inspirations from the report would be of great significance for both the interpreter and the report on the academic level.
