A Report On The Simulated C-E Simultaneous Interpretation Of World AI Conference In 2018

Interpreters should use such strategies as explication,implication and syntactic linearity to save time and increase efficiency in addition to the transfer of meaning in simultaneous interpretation.These methods,when used effectively,can help interpreters to fulfill their tasks successfully by reducing the difficulty.However,if interpreters translate a speech word by word and sentence by sentence,the result will be far from satisfactory owing to the differences between Chinese and English.At the same time,other factors could throw the audience into great confusion,like background knowledge and technical terms.As a result,other tactics such as deverbalisation should be applied to get the meaning across,which is of vital significance.The strategies discussed in this report,like explication,implication and syntactic linearity,are expected to provide guidance for future interpreters in terms of logical relations,abstract concepts,technical terms and typical Chinese words and expressions so as to help the speaker or speakers to be better understood.At the end of the report,some suggestions are given to prospective interpreters to prepare them for their future career.
