As China is communicating with the outside world more than ever before, the interpreters have become the first that people turn to as mediator. To foster qualified interpreters, the major Master of Translation and Interpretation was born and competitions to test these skills are unfolding.Great performance in such competitions is seen as a kind of reflection of the abilities of both contestants and their teachers.Nowadays, the academic community studies such contests from the perspectives of teaching, testing, rating and course designing, with a lack of ample research from the views of Effort Models and re-construction strategy. This thesis mainly studies how contestants used the re-construction strategies properly to achieve satisfying results in the 3rd All China Interpreting Contest under the Effort Models.Upon transcription of contest video contents, summary and comparison of statistics and the author's actual contest experience, the contest duration,key-word popularity and density are also analyzed and the effects are discussed.Based on this research,it is found that using re-construction strategies properly, contestants are capable of optimizing their interpreting effect and create favorable conditions for the optimization of cognitive load distribution.(1)Through part of speech conversion, sentence structure can be adjusted to be interpreter-friendly;(2)through addition of information with no specific cognitive significance, low cognitive load interval can be created;(3)through repetition and replacement, mistakes caused by fuzzy memory can be avoided and information integrity can be maintained. For the enlightenment of teaching, teachers can focus more on the incentives of the strategy, and turn them to become that of professional interpreter.
