This is a report on the translation of a text in social network. The phrase “social network” is firstly proposed as a connected graph by Barnes, where the nodes represent the entity and the edges represent the correlation.Web-based social networks discussed in the source text, are initially only used by people to connect with their friends and family, and later used by the government and enterprises as platforms to provide public services. With the development of network technology, the function of voice, video and picture sharing in web-based social networks have brought new interactive experience to users and changed the traditional way of single text communication, but the increasing unstructured information and the convenience of digital information duplication have also brought the problem of users' privacy disclosure. Therefore, how to protect users' privacy in social network has become a key issue for global researchers, which inspires the translator to do such English-Chinese translation to help domestic translators and related researchers in having more knowledge of western researches in social network, especially in trust models.Five chapters are contained in this report. The first chapter is an introduction to the project, including research background, purpose and significance. The second part is text description, including the source, framework and features of the text. The third part is the translator's whole translation process, including pre-translation,during translation and post-translation work, quality control method and difficulties the translator have met and the way of overcoming them.In the fourth chapter, the translator presents the translation theory of Functional Equivalence Theory and techniques of amplification, omission, division, conversion and inversion the translator has used. Finally, the report presents experience and lessons the translator has attained and possible innovation the translator has made as a conclusion in the fifth chapter.
