The source text of this translation project is the academic work Towards a General Theory of Translational Action.Up to now,there is no published Chinese version,and the translator was assigned to translate Chapter 11 Genre Theory,the total translation amount is up to more than 10000 words.Towards a General Theory of Translational Action was written by Katharina Reiss and Hans J.Vermeer.It is an informative text supplemented by expressive text.Peter Newmark's text type theory was used as a basis of this translation practise.As for translation strategy,Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation was used.The translation report contains five chapters,including a short introduction to the translation project,translation process,literature review and theoretical framework for the project,the exemplary case analysis based on the theoretical knowledge during the translation,and the last part is a conclusion of the translation project.The translator hopes that the translation text can be used as a reference for scholars who study text types and translation.
