Chinese four-character expression features rhyme and rhythm, which is extensively used in Chinese language, especially in speeches delivered by government leaders.Chinese four-character expression can not only convey the government's policies and achievements, but also demonstrate the knowledge of leaders. As a unique and idiomatic expression in Chinese, the translation of four-character expression is always a thorny problem in Chinese-English translation.Consecutive interpreters are faced with greater challenges in interpreting these expressions because of limited time. Therefore, under the guidance of Interpretive Theory, this dissertation analyzes the interpreting strategies of four-character expressions from the aspects of culture, syntax and rhetoric, with premier Li Keqiang's annual press conferences after NPC and CPPCC as materials. The conclusion shows that under the guidance of Interpretive Theory, most Chinese four-character expressions should be paraphrased to deliver the meaning.Amplification should be applied to explain the meaning of the four-character expression.Omission should be applied to omit unnecessary reduplication and avoid redundancy in English.Literal translation is the main method for interpreting fourcharacter political terms because these political terms have their fixed English counterparts, conveying the Chinese government's attitudes and position.
