A Study Of E-C Long Sentence Translation Practice With Theory Of Text Type

This report discusses the long sentence E-C translation in the field of technology text.The original text type of the translation practice is “informative” according to Reiss' s Text Type theory.Since the translation practice refers to science,the author hopes to promote the development of related translation study and to build a bridge between China and foreign countries in communication of science and technology.There are four chapters in this project,including task description and analysis,theory,difficulties and adopted methods,case analysis and summary.In the first chapter,a specific description related to the translation task is given.It also explains the characteristics of the original text.The second chapter introduces the theory of Text Types from Katharina Reiss firstly,especially the Informative one.Besides,this chapter focuses on the features of long sentences and makes three classifications.Moreover,the second chapter also lists three methods adopted in long sentence translation with cases.The third chapter analyzes how to carry on long sentence translation with detailed cases.In the final part of this paper,a summary is given.The author explains the advantages of each translation method and then discusses applicable situations of each translation method.However,there is room for improvement with the author's limited translation ability.Hope this paper could be helpful for future students who will encounter similar translation problems in their translation work.
