Research On The Problem Of Migratory Redundancy In Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting

Redundancy refers to the redundant and repetitive information,or some necessary information for better conveying information,that is to say,either more or less redundant information will cause the redundancy problem in target language.Therefore,it's based on the balance of redundant information between source language and target language to analyze if it would become a redundancy problem.Transfer redundancy problem begins with the use of the source language and results in the translation language redundancy caused by the transfer behavior.Because of the differences in the usage between Chinese and English,translators are often influenced by their mother language,then Chinese expressions are grafted into English translations,which results in translation redundancy.Based on the interpreting practice,this paper studies the problem of transfer redundancy in Chinese-English consecutive interpretation,analyzes its specific manifestations,causes and countermeasures.The problem of translation redundancy in this interpreting practice can be divided into: lexical,semantic and syntactic.For words redundancy in the target language,the transfer of lexical collocation in source language will lead to the transfer redundancy of category words in the target language.The lack of encyclopedia knowledge of the source language will cause the transfer of feature words in the literal translation,then lead to the default of information,resulting in the lack of translation redundancy in the target language.The cause of semantic redundancy in the target language is the failure of discriminating synonyms of the same or different forms of the source language.In the grammatical redundancy of the target language,the translation redundancy in loose short sentences and long difficult sentences are caused by the failure of decoding and transcoding the source language.In addition,this paper puts forward relevant methods to solve transfer redundancy problems: omission method,properly explanation,semantic compression and variable translation method,these methods can give a supply to avoid the problems during the interpretation.
