Localization of company websites can serve the purposes of promoting the image of a company and piquing customers' interest,and is a very important step for multinational companies to reach out to its target customers who speak a different language.Based on the localization project of the drag-and-drop design platform Canva,the thesis discussed four obstacles the translators have to deal with in this project,including the emphasis on the appellative function of the texts,inappropriate sentence segmentation,limited website space and culturally-bound concepts and expressions.This paper argues that the following methods can be adopted to solve these problems: changing the narrative perspective and adding information to resonate with the readers;searching background information for better understanding and linking up segmented contents;deleting redundant expressions,combining or segmenting sentences to improve the visual effect of the landing pages;replacing highly culturally-bound concepts and explicating cultural expressions to make the translation more comprehensible for target readers.
