As a discipline in business management, human resource management plays an important role in corporate management in the trend of globalization.Mastering the knowledge of human resources can make managers realize the importance of human resource localization for enterprises. This report is based on the translation of Chapter 8,Human Resources Management and Labor Relations(7th Edition)published by Peking University Press in 2006.In this chapter,it is mainly about the six modules of human resource management, which include human resource planning, staffing and organization, training, performance appraisal, compensation and benefits and labor relations. The chapter also discusses how to apply the theories of human resource management to practical situations. In this report,on the basis of the functional equivalence theory of Eugene Nida and the language features of the translation, the author focuses on the study of the translation strategies of passive sentences in the text which can be summarized into three types:(1)translating English passive sentences into Chinese passive sentences;(2)translating English passive sentences into Chinese active sentences;(3)translating English passive sentences into Chinese sentences with no subject.Among them, the first strategy is divided into two sub-categories,which are translating English passive sentences into Chinese with bei and translating English passive sentences with shoudao, dedao, jiang, you and shi.The second strategy is divided into three categories:the subject in English version translated as the subject in Chinese version, the original subject in English version translated as the object in Chinese version, and translating English passive sentences into Chinese active sentences with predictive. In this report, three translation strategies and techniques of passive sentences in the English texts of human resource management are summed up by studying Human Resources Management and Labor Relations and analyzing the cases in it.It is hoped that this report would provide reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
