The book,Knowledge,Innovation and Sustainable Development in Organizations:A Dynamic Capacities Perspective, discusses the change which has taken place in knowledge and innovation in different companies, how this change alters the companies themselves and the markets in which they compete from a dynamic capability perspective, and how this change makes sustainability in the development of companies. This translation report is based on the translation of Chapter 13,“Sustainability and Innovation in the Value Chain:An Analysis of a Case Study”.By studying the case of a global innovation company in the Brazilian energy field, this chapter mainly introduces an innovative case study,so as to improve new business management knowledge and help the enterprise form its sustainable competitiveness. The translation of this book can provide reference and help for Chinese researchers and practitioners in the fields of enterprise management and economics. The translation report is divided into four parts.Part One is the task description, which introduces the source text, its author and the significance of this translation practice.Part Two is the description of translation process, including three stages: before, during and after the translation.Part Three, analysis of the case,is an important part of this translation practice report.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, the translator makes the analysis through the translation cases from three levels: lexical, syntactic and textual levels. The translation of words mainly adopts some translation techniques, such as word meaning selection, part of speech conversion, and omission and addition of words;at syntactic level, word order adjustment, voice conversion, and decomposition of long sentences are used;at textual level, referential cohesion and logical cohesion are considered. Finally,Part Four is the summary of this translation practice, which mainly refers to what the translator has learned from this translation practice. It is hoped that by means of continuous practice and summaries, greater progress can be made in the future. The deep understandings brought by this translation practice are as follows: in order to achieve the equivalence between the original and the translated text, the translators need a full understanding of compound text of management and economics, including the content, context, style and professional knowledge.Enough attention should be paid to the combination of various translation skills and the expression habits of target language. At lexical level, translators should choose the appropriate meaning and the part of speech according to the specific context. At syntactic level, different translation methods should be used flexibly by the characteristics of different sentence patterns. At the textual level,it is necessary to explore the logical features of the original text on the basis of the correct translation of words and sentences,so as to make the translated text natural and cohesive.
