A Report On The Translation Of Library Security:Better Communication,Safer Facilities(Chapter 2)

The library can provide readers with a good reading environment,but the behavior problems of some patrons will bring negative effects to the library environment and even threaten the library security.The library staff need to ensure the safety of patrons and themselves,so it is necessary to avoid the patrons' behavior problems deteriorating,which may lead to the violence tendency and the potential safety hazards.The book Library Security: Better Communication,Safer facilities provides specific measures for library staff.The material of this translation practice report is the second chapter of this book.This chapter is closely related to the theme of the whole book and it describes the three keys of a safer library,namely,security-aware staff,creative customer service skills and enforced codes of conduct,which are of referential significance to library staff in solving library safety problems.This translation practice report includes four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task,which briefly introduces the source of the translation practice material,the author,the works and the significance of the topic.The second part is the description of the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the difficulties in the translation process,as well as the reviewing,polishing and finalizing of the translation.The principal difficulty in the process of translation is the translation of terminology which lacks standard translation.For such terminology,the writer translated them according to the meaning of the original text and the relevant information of the terminology.The third part,the translation case analysis,is the core content of this translation practice report.The writer made a detailed analysis of typical cases in the translation process at vocabulary,sentence and discourse levels.In the translation of vocabulary,the writer mainly applied the translation techniques such as word meaning extension and word conversion.The cases at the syntactic level are divided into parallel structure,parenthesis and longsentence translation.At the discourse level,the writer mainly analyzed the coordinating of sentence meaning and the translation of cultural context.The fourth part is the summary of translation practice,including the summary of the translation process,the gains and thoughts from the translation practice.In the process of this translation practice,the writer applied translation theories and techniques into the practice,which deepened the understanding of translation knowledge and improved the writer's translation ability at the same time.
