In today's society, economic globalization is developing rapidly, and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries constantly plays an important role in interconnecting the global economy. An annual report reflects the operation and financial performance of a company and is also a major channel to show its image and development. Therefore,it's important for us to have an accurate translation of the annual report. As English for science and technology(EST),it features specialized vocabulary, complex sentence pattern, and strict logic. So these features have put forward higher requirements for the translation of scientific text. This source text is selected from OPEC Annual Report(OPEC AR(2017),including three parts: The World Economy,Oil Market development and The declaration of cooperation: When the extraordinary happens.Based on some relevant materials, this report tries to apply the Skopos theory to case study of the annual report so as to accurately convey the original information. The author summarizes the problems encountered in the translation of the annual report.Appropriate solutions to the problems are analyzed through case study involving different translation skills adopted. This translation report analyzes the linguistic features from lexical level, syntactic level to textual level, then analyzes the problems encountered in the translation of OPEC AR(2017)through case study. The strategies and techniques of annual report translation are summarized to achieve the effectiveness and integrity of information transmission,so as to further expand the feasibility of Skopos theory in such texts, and provide reference for further translation studies of similar texts.
