Interpreting Strategies Of TCM Culture-loaded Information

Health is the most important factor for human beings.When people begin to pay more attention to health,the health industry will grow rapidly as well.And TCM has now become the research focus for more and more people.As a Chinese,the author has strong interest in TCM.TCM is a complex subject that involves the contents of philosophy,science,biology and so on.It contains so much classic Chinese culture and it plays an important role for the balance between nature and people.With the development of TCM,it begins to bring health to people all over the world.Thus the interpreting of TCM has become an important portion of interpreting practice.From the perspective of Skopos theory,the author simulated an interpretation of a TCM culture lecture so as to sum up the interpreting strategies.The TCM culture involves rich culture-loaded information and the professional knowledge and deep culture knowledge make this kind of interpretation practice difficult to accomplish.With the core concept of methods by purpose,Skopos theory is the suitable theory to guide the interpretation of the contents in the TCM culture.There are four parts in this article.The first part is task description.It contains the task background and the task features.The second part is task progress.It is about the pre-task preparations and the task progress.The third part,the main part of the paper,is the case study in which the introduction of theory is given and the strategies of transliteration,literal interpretation,free interpretation,omission and addition are illustrated.The fourth part is conclusion which contains the research findings and the limitations.The author hopes that the strategies given in the paper can be helpful to those who are going to do the similar interpreting practice.
