This report is based on the author's experience of interpreting for the India-Zhangjiajie Tourism Cooperation Symposium(hereinafter referred to as “the Symposium”)in 2019.The Symposium is sponsored by the Zhangjiajie Municipal Bureau of Culture,Tourism,Radio,Television and Sports and organized by the Zhangjiajie Branch of China Travel Service,aiming to further promote cooperation and exchanges between India and Zhangjiajie in terms of culture and tourism.The report is started with the introduction of the interpreting task,including its background,features,requirements as well as the description of the author's performance before,during and after the task.Then,combining the Interpretive Theory of Translation,the author adopts different interpreting techniques to deal with the obstacles in the task.The report is divided into three parts to introduce all the techniques adopted by the author in the process of interpreting.The author adopts addition,shift and omission to solve the difficulties caused by Indian English &Colloquial Expressions;amplification,re-combining and compressing to deal with Loose Logic & Parallel Structures;reduction,explicitation and generalization to translate Four-character Expressions & Quotation.Finally,this report summarizes the author's major gains during the interpretation,including the major contributors to the satisfactory interpreting performance,limitations faced by intern interpreters and suggestions for future study.In this interpreting task,the author adopts corresponding strategies to solve various difficulties under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.The author believes that the Interpretive Theory is very important to solve the problem caused by listening comprehension in this task,and it also has certain guiding significance for similar interpreting practice of tourism seminars.Therefore,the author sincerely hopes that this report will be of some use to the later similar study of tourism interpreting and can also provide some references and inspirations for other interpreters.At last,theauthor hopes that more interpreters can recognize forging interpreting abilities as a long-term progress.Above all,what a qualified interpreter needs is not only a good command of bilingual knowledge,but also a vast reservoir of theoretical knowledge and a strong psychological status while facing great pressure.
