This practice report is based on the translation of the first two parts of the book Eat Better Live Longer.The book,co-edited by Dr.Sarah Brewer and Juliette Kellow,describes the factors affecting aging and ways of developing healthy eating habits.The original text on social science is characterized by concise language,technical terms and diversified sentence patterns.In order to reproduce these characteristics and styles in the process of translation,Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory is applied as a theoretical guidance and corresponding translation techniques are adopted.Based on Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory,this report makes a concrete analysis of the typical cases from the aspects of lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence and stylistic equivalence.At the lexical level,the translation techniques of diction,conversion of word classes are mainly adopted to achieve lexical equivalence between the target text and source text.At the syntactic level,in view of the differences between Chinese and English expressions,the translation techniques of conversion of voice,division and omission are mainly adopted to make the translation more in line with the habit of the target language and achieve the syntactic equivalence.At the stylistic level,according to the characteristics of the source text,the translation techniques of sequential translation and reverse translation are mainly adopted to convey the style of the original text to readers as possible as she can.Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory,the translation should make the target readers feel the same as the original readers and can offer some reference for the future translation of such books.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 30...
