Research On The Representation Of Images Of Migrant Workers In News Photography (2010-2019)

Migrant workers have always been an important subject of media coverage.With the advent of the era of image reading,photography has undoubtedly become an important way to enter visual culture,and the public has also acquired a way to read news through visual images.With the emergence of news photography featuring migrant workers on the photography stage in the 1990 s,such works have a strong underlying orientation and humanistic concern,and are closely related to the country,society and era,thus becoming a visual text with typical research significance.This article aims to investigate the relationship between the symbolic representation,visual construction,and social transformation of the current domestic migrant workers.Through the selection of the effective content of the news report on the migrant workers in the domestic official media "People's Daily" from 2010 to 2019 for ten years and the effective content of the portal website Tencent News Picture Reporting column "alive" for a diachronic review.The research adopts the content analysis method to sort out the data,and uses representation theory to first analyze the ideographic rules of the text based on the semiotic path,analyze the news picture samples from both the shooting form and the shooting content,and summarize two different shooting paradigms and image Visual construction;secondly,it is supplemented by a discourse path to interpret the ideological call and power operation mode behind the symbol,exploring the path of the official discourse and the folk discourse to construct the media image of migrant workers,presenting the inherent contradictions and tensions between the two discourse systems,And the interactive relationship between media ideological practice and the process of social transformation.Research shows that although the images of migrant workers in official and folk discourses are similar and different,they are constrained by many factors such as the discourse order,technological innovation,media bias,and consumer demand in the social transition period.However,the humanistic ideas presented by the two have become more and more obvious,and the mass media are more concerned about the survival and development of the social integration of migrant workers.This kind of visual endorsement at the bottom will undoubtedly mean social progress.This article is also for farmers in the future.Worker groups' visual image representation and social transformation period provide research samples.
