A Report On Business Interpreting From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

Translation Variation Theory is a relatively new translation theory,which is a great challenge to traditional translation theories.It was put forward by professor Huang Zhonglian.However,Professor Huang Zhonglian’s research on the Translation Variation Theory is limited to translation while little has been done on the phenomenon of translation variation in interpreting.Business interpreting has its own unique characteristics.With the increase of international exchanges,business interpreting activities are becoming more and more frequent.The combination of the Translation Variation Theory and business interpreting is a new exploration,which not only reflects the needs of the times and the market,but also has certain research potential.The author takes her business interpreting practice at the 20 th China Hi-Tech Fair as the object of study to explore the application of Translation Variation Theory in business interpreting.The author compares the original version with the modified version under the guidance of the Translation Variation Theory.This thesis undertakes a detailed study of the application of four methods in business interpreting,namely,amplification,omission,adaptation and edition.After these studies,the author comes to a preliminary conclusion that the Translation Variation Theory can provide theoretical support for business interpreting activities and promote the rapid development of business interpreting.This thesis aims to explore the combination of the Translation Variation Theory with the business interpreting so as to open up a new field for interpreters and provide some references for the application of this theory in business interpreting.
