This report is about the translation of the biography Thomas Cromwell:A Revolutionary life. The report chooses the second chapter of the biography as the translation material, which describes the experience of Thomas Cromwell in the early years after leaving his hometown.A large number of attributive clauses with complex logical relations appear in the original text, which make translation difficult.Based on Functional Equivalence Theory proposed by Nida, the translator realizes that it is necessary to apply various translation strategies according to the sentence structure and semantic content to make the logic clearer and more acceptable. The translator also summarizes five translation methods when translating attributive clauses including pre-position,post-position,restructuration,conversion and combination. This report is divided into four parts: task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion. The third part is the core part of this report. It briefly introduces Nida's functional equivalence theory, analyzes the features of attributive clauses and the problems in the process of translation, and puts forward the methods of translating attributive clauses with specific cases. In the fourth part, the translator shares the gains in the process of translation, hoping to provide some reference for the translation of similar texts.
