Food security is an important issue related to the national economy and people's livelihood.However,in the rapid development of the 21 st century,Africa is still facing widespread famine and malnutrition.As the translation text of Chapter 32 of The Oxford Handbook of Food,Politics and Society,it first introduces the phenomenon of famine and malnutrition in the Sahel region of Africa,then analyzes the causes of this phenomenon and proposes solutions.Therefore,the translation of this text can provide theoretical support and experience for solving the problems related to famine and malnutrition.The present report focuses on the pre-translation preparations,translation difficulties and case analysis.Preparations contains the analysis of the source text,the preparation of translation tools and parallel texts,and the guidance of Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation(CEA)framework.In view of the characteristics of scientific and technological texts such as concise,logic and strict sentence structure,the report also analyzes the difficulties of correctly understanding words and sentence structures in translation.Only by correctly understanding words and sentence structure can promise correct expression.Case analysis is the top priority of the report.It makes detailed analysis of the translation examples from the perspectives of CEA.Among them,comprehension is divided into two aspects: words and phrases,and sentence structure;expression is divided into in line with target language and text type;adaptation is divided into flexible addition and deletion,and using Chinese idioms.The case analysis under the guidance of CEA framework proves that correct comprehension is the guarantee for the translation to be faithful to the original,proper expression makes the translation smoother,and appropriate adaptation makes the translation more natural.Through case analysis,it realizes that any doubts about the original text should be carefully verified according to the context.To the professional knowledge in the text,the parallel text can be used to find the appropriate expression.In order to realize the flexibility in translation,it need to have a better comprehension of the original text and a good command of the characteristics of the Chinese and English language.It hopes that this report may provide reference for those researchers who are engaged in food security.
