With the continuous improvement of human's exploitation and utilization of nature, natural disasters, environmental pollution, and ecological degradation constantly follow. In recent years, the world environmental problems have become increasingly serious which has drawn great attention from the public and media at home and abroad. For the public, environmental news is the main channel to know the global environmental situation and master the existing ecological environmental problems. This thesis is a report on the E-C translation practice of nine selected environmental news in The Guardian, mainly concerned with topics such as the global climate crisis, wildlife conservation, green energy and pollution, etc. The report analyzes the news from three levels: lexis, syntax and text, and further sums up the characteristics of environmental news.On this basis, the report takes Vermeer's “Skopos Theory” as the theoretical framework, which makes the translation more accurate and easier for readers to understand and better convey environmental information.According to the skopos theory, translation is a purposeful and productive behavior based on the source text, which contains three principles: skopos(purpose)principle, coherence principle and fidelity principle. In this translation practice, the author follows the three principles of skopos theory and flexibly combines literal translation with free translation in the process of translation, while ensuring the faithfulness and accuracy as well as the naturalness of the target text.
