A Translation Report On Hubei Tourism News From Xinhuanet From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the development of economic globalization,China has gradually attracted the attention of the whole world and thus become increasingly popular as a tourist destination for foreigners.Tourism news being an effective access to tourism information,many news websites have set up a specific column for readers to obtain relevant information,where lies the significance of tourism news translation.Translation,as a means of cross-cultural communication,faces many challenges.With differences in languages and cultures,tourism news translation bears more difficulties in terms of vocabulary,expression,cultural background,and so on,which the translator should pay attention to.In this report,with the guidance of Skopos theory,the author will explore translation strategies and methods applicable to tourism news translation in practice.This paper is a translation practice report on Hubei tourism news from Xinhuanet,which is mainly divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,briefly describing the background and significance of the translation practice.The second part covers the processes of this translation practice,which mainly includes pre-translation preparation,in-translation and post-translation review.Chapter three constitutes the key part of this report.In this part,the author firstly introduces the three rules of Skopos theory,and then,by case studies,summarizes effective translation methods and strategies of tourism news texts from historical and cultural background and linguistic aspect(lexical level and syntactic level).Part four is the conclusion of the report,which mainly summarizes the problems encountered in the translation process,the corresponding solutions,and the shortcomings of this translation practice.
