In the current era when visual culture began to originate,the films adapted from literary have become a topic that the whole society needs to pay attention to and explore.Since the reform and opening up,the films adapted from literary in mainland China have always been closely connected with the culture of the times.They capture the changes of the times,record the changes of the society,and show the myriad scenes of life.In each period,they present a unique cultural style and a distinctive mark of the times.Therefore,through the study of this period's films adapted from literary,the cultural roots and soul of the development of the films adapted from literary in mainland China have been found in the past 40 years.At the same time,the study of the films adapted from literary in this period also play a positive role in sorting out the rules and problems of the films adapted from literary in this period and clarifying the influence and role of cultural context in the process of literature adapted to films.In addition to the introduction,references,academic achievements published,acknowledgements and appendices,the paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the films adapted from literary in this period from the context of elite culture.In the 1980 s,the films adapted from literary in the mainland China highlighted a distinct sense of elite culture.Not only the elite group replaced the revolutionary heroes and the "workers,peasants and soldiers" group to become the main body of the film screen display,but also the return of human nature in the context of elite culture makes the theme of love and youth popular for adaptation.The rural area under the trend of cultural root-seeking has also become the image space that directors are keen to express.In this period,the filmmakers also adapted the classic literary texts in the period of May 4th Movements into films under the call of the enlightenment trend.However,the political context in this period has never gone away in the field of the films,and its power was manifested explicitly or implicitly through a large number of mainstream films.The second chapter mainly discusses the films adapted from literary under the influence of mass culture and commercial culture in the 1990 s.The paper points out that the popularity of popular culture makes the films adapted from literary in this period pay more attention to the aesthetics of daily life and the display of marginal groups.After rural culture turned to urban culture in the 1990 s,the youth confusion of the urban young men and the urban space anxiety of the small citizens became the focus of film expression.Under the pressure of the market,the films adapted from literary of this period are marked with profound commercial culture.The third chapter discusses the films adapted from literary from the perspective of multi-cultural context.Since the 21 st century,the films adapted from literary have alsopresented different artistic forms from the past under the influence of multiculturalism.First,the film adapted from literature based on the post-modern culture presents an image style that overthrows the authority,is far from the sublime and parodies the history.Second,there are a large number of Chinese adapted films imitating the style of Hollywood films.Third,the rise of network culture has prompted a large number of network literary works to be adapted into films.Fourth,the popularity of consumer culture made the film directors constantly meet the aesthetic needs of the audience in the process of adaptation.The fourth chapter is mainly based on the theoretical analysis to review the films adapted from literary since the reform and opening up in theory.There are two sections in this chapter.The first section mainly analyzes the media bias of the two different media,words and images,in the process of literary adapted to film since the reform and opening up.The second section analyzes the aesthetic changes of the regional space of the films adapted from literary on the mainland since the reform and opening up.The innovation of this paper lies in that it is the first time to investigate and study the films adapted from literary since the reform and opening up from the perspective of cultural context.It not only systematically and coherently grasps the historical structure and adaptation process of these 40 years' literary adaptation films from the macro level of culture.In addition,it also makes a detailed and specific interpretation and analysis of the cultural aesthetics embodied in each period from the micro cultural level.What's more,on the basis of summing up the experience and achievements of adaptation,it provides adaptation reference for the current and future literary adaptation films in mainland China.
