Application Of Trans-editing In English-chinese Translation Of Investment Insights

As China opened financial markets further with an improved market system,it has seen a growing number of overseas asset management institutions choose to develop their businesses in China.Facing increasingly fierce competition in the market,some major asset management institutions are actively spreading their investment insights through multiple channels to expand their market share,which greatly boosted the demand for translation.Based on a project of English-Chinese translation of articles on an investment company's Wechat official account,this paper analyzes the application of trans-editing in articles about investment insights,which may provide meaningful ideas for improving the translation quality of such texts.This paper first introduces the project and client's requirements for translation quality.Then the paper analyzes the concept,theoretical basis and methods of trans-editing,and concludes that trans-editing refers to the reorganization of language,structure and contents while translating under the principle of accurately conveying the original meaning.Translators can flexibly use words and expressions according to language habit of target readers as well as the publishing platform at language level;rearrange chapters and paragraphs according to the logical flow of the original text at structure level;delete,modify or add some appropriate information at contents level.Based on the principles and methods of trans-editing,this paper discusses its specific application in the translation project.In terms of headlines,translators can create suspense,use rhetoric and delicate sentence structures to attract readers' reading attention;in terms of message,translators can delete redundant information,add reasonable information to support the argument and clarify the topic to make the whole passage coherent and concise;in terms of language,translators can adopt idiomatic phrases,explicit logic and prominent structure,making the expression more vivid,professional and clear to attract readers.
