Causes Of Listening Comprehension Problems In Russian-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting And Coping Strategies

Listening comprehension ability is an important evaluation index for interpreter's interpreting ability.Excellent listening comprehension ability can ensure the interpreter's accurate understanding of the source language content.Research by scholars at home and abroad shows that listening is the first link of interpretation,which affects the processing and understanding of the original text and the output quality of the interpreting.Based on the previous research,first of all,in this article the author defined listening comprehension in interpretation,and analyzed the characteristics of listening comprehension in Russian alternate interpretation based on the language characteristics of Russian.Combining the specific case of the simulation of Putin's press conference meeting of the 2019 BRICS Summit,the author analyzed the problems of listening and understanding in the simulation meeting.The press meeting had strong immediacy,and reporters gave a wider range of questions,so the answers involved many proper nouns.In the meeting the author had a series of listening problems,including misunderstanding of the original context,confusion in logic,and missing information.These listening problems led to poor interpreting quality.Therefore,the author analyzed and sums up the causes of hearing difficulties,exploring from two perspectives: the linguistic level and the non-linguistic level.The main reasons for the problems are inaccurate understanding of the original context,improper logical analysis,insufficient background knowledge,improper energy distribution,and misleading notes.Finally,the author put forward the countermeasures that should be taken against the above causes.From the language level,the measures include expanding vocabulary,building a solid foundation,grasping the related words and make appropriate associations.From a non-linguistic level,measures include strengthening pre-interpreting preparation,focusing attention on current issues,paying attention to the distribution of energy and focusing on listening comprehension supplemented by listening notes.At the same time,the note system should be improved to prevent notes from misleading listening and causing preconceptions.
