Note-taking Inappropriateness And Its Coping Strategies In Russian-Chinese Consecutive Interpretation

Notes are absolutely essential to high-quality consecutive interpreting.Good notes can help interpreters reduce the burden of memory so as to ensure and improve overall interpreting performance.As a case study of the mock conference of “State of the Union address by the president of the Russian Federation in 2019”,this thesis discusses problems of inappropriate note-taking in Russian-Chinese consecutive interpretation and gives concerning strategies by comparing the transcripts of the source language with the author's interpretation,and analyzing related notes.Firstly,by referring to relevant literature and researches and combining with the author's interpreting experience,the thesis briefly introduces the role and principles of note-taking in consecutive interpretation.Secondly,the thesis reviews the author's overall interpreting performance in the mock conference.Thirdly,the thesis summarizes the problems of inappropriate note-taking in Russian-Chinese consecutive interpretation by analyzing specific examples,which will be basically divided into two aspects: notes omission and notes illegibility.Finally,this thesis provides specific strategies to reduce inappropriate notes in consecutive interpretation: First,to improve the ability of note-taking;Second,to strengthen preparing work before interpretation;Third,to optimize energy distribution.
