Annual report refers to the company's financial report and other related documents for the entire fiscal year.Nanjing Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.Semi-Annual Report of 2019 disclosed the financial and operating conditions of Nanjing Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.in the first half of 2019.During his internship at Nanjing Hongteng Translation Company,the author participated in this translation project and was responsible for the translation work of the third and fourth sections.Explicitation is the translation process in which the content of the original text is clearly expressed.Katharina Reiss,the founder of German functional translation theory,believes that all texts that aim to convey information,knowledge,opinions and other facts are informational texts.According to the text types theory brought up by Reiss,annual report belongs to informative text.The purpose of this report is to explore how to achieve explicitation in informative text translation so as to make the obscure information in the source text conform to the language habits and thinking mode of target language readers.This report selects the C-E translation of the third and fourth sections of Nanjing Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.Semi-Annual Report of 2019 as the research object.The report analyzes the textual characteristics of the translation projects,discusses the difficulties and translation strategies in the translation process.The translation difficulty at the lexical level focuses on terminologies.The difficulty of sentence translation lies in long and complicated sentences.The difficulty of text translation is to keep the text style of the original text.Under the guidance of the explicitation translation theory,the author summarizes specific and feasible translation methods based on translation examples: literal translation,amplification and omission are adopted in translating terminologies;combination,division and voice transformation are used to translate long and complicated sentences;translation with explanation and reconstruction are used to maintain the unique text style of the source text.The author hopes that this project report can provide reference for translation practice and study of similar text in the future.
