A Report On The Interpreting Project Of Seminar On Agricultural Product Yield Increase For Namibia

To increase the agricultural production in Asian and African developing countries and ensure their food security,Yuan Longping High-tech Agriculture Co.,Ltd.has undertaken many foreign aid projects.The reporter was responsible for liaison and consecutive interpretation in the “Seminar on Agricultural Product Yield Increase for Namibia” Project to help Namibian participants and Chinese teachers to get a better understanding of each other from September 29 th to October 16 th in 2019.The difficulties encountered by the interpreter are analyzed in this project report.At the same time,she also puts forward corresponding solutions by referring to the research results of interpreting both at home and abroad.Four challenges encountered by the reporter include inadequate mastery of terminologies,difficulty in identifying uncommon accents,poor interpretation without notes and excessive subjectivity of the interpreter.Based on deep thinking and reflection together with research results of interpreting both at home and abroad,the reporter comes up with solutions which are making full preparations and interpreting terminologies under the guidance of interpretive theory,leaning about pronunciation rules,enhancing short-term memory and focusing on key points,reducing subjectivity of the interpreter and communicating with speakers.The reporter hopes that the problems studied and the solutions proposed in this report can also provide reference for other interpreters.
